"Lord, make us like children during this difficult season."
Scripture Reference: Deuteronomy 6: 4-9 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”
Family Time as Worship
Today, try to set aside some time as a family to do an application activity. Even if you do not have children in your home, this will still be a good exercise for all. We are going to act out this bible verse in our homes.
Supplies needed: Index cards or card stock. If you have kids, and want to make it a little more fun, consider adding stickers, paint, markers, or anything else with which to decorate.
- 1. Write out, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” on one card, then repeat with “…all your soul” and “…all your strength”; (If you have younger children, stop after step one; if older, continue through step 3 and consider making multiple copies to post around the home in different colors).
- Write, “The Lord our God is one Lord” on another card;
- Write “The Lord is Our God” on another card
- Post the decorated or written activity cards on your door frames of your house. Post them on your walls and gates. If you have kids, you could even post them on your foreheads, as “The Word” says. Have fun with it! Keep the Lord our God as the forefront of your home this Father’s Day season.
Prayer for Today: “Lord, make us like children during this difficult season. Show us how to take your word literally this season, and to keep you as the forefront of our homes and minds as we celebrate the father or father figure in our lives. Thank you for this precious gift, our Best Friend, who made us to be like Him.”
