Update September 1st

Hi CrossRoad family,

The latest forecasts indicate that Hurricane Dorian has the potential to bring dangerous winds along with several inches of rain to our area at some point on Tuesday. Many schools and government offices in Northeast Florida have already announced closures, along with some mandatory evacuations in St. Johns County beginning tomorrow.

We have decided to cancel all on-campus activities at the church on Tuesday and Wednesday. Our MidWeek Fall Kickoff has been postponed to 6:30pm Wednesday, September 11. This will allow our staff to focus on getting the church building ready for significant rainfall, as well as preparing themselves and their families for the storm.

Kingdom Kids Preschool will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday along with Duval County Public Schools and has tentatively rescheduled their Open House for Thursday, September 5 and the first day of classes for Friday, September 6, provided that DCPS is open and the church building is in good condition. If you are a Kingdom Kids parent and have further questions, please email Nathalie Potts.

Please be safe and follow the instructions of our local authorities. For those of you who serve our community as first responders of any kind, I am so grateful for the sacrifices you make whenever disaster strikes. If any of you need to update your storm survival plan, you can download this guide from the City of Jacksonville.

Last, I want to thank you for such a wonderful day of worship at church today! It was good for my soul to gather with all of you this morning to sing and pray together and connect with God. I hope that you were blessed, too.

All God’s love,

Kevin

Update August 30th

Hi CrossRoad family,

We’ve been closely watching Hurricane Dorian’s progress, and based on the forecast issued by the National Hurricane Center at 11am this morning, we plan on having our 10am worship service this Sunday, along with all of our regular Sunday activities for adults, youth, and children, including SNL (Sunday Night Live) for 6th-12th graders. Looking beyond Sunday, there is a chance that church activities next week could be impacted by the storm. If we need to postpone or cancel any midweek activities, we will keep you informed through our Facebook page, and via email. Kingdom Kids Preschool will be closed if Duval County Public Schools are closed. The church office and preschool will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day.

Update August 28th

Hi CrossRoad family,

I invite you to join me in praying today for the people of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean islands that are in the immediate path of Tropical Storm Dorian. As of the latest update from the National Hurricane Center, the storm is expected to strengthen and move in the general direction of the east coast of Florida, and there is a possibility of high winds and heavy rainfall in the Jacksonville area beginning Saturday evening.

We’re monitoring the storm, and I wanted to go ahead and let you know our plan for inclement weather at the church. In the unlikely event that we are unable to have a worship service on Sunday morning or regular activities next week, we will post an announcement on Saturday evening on our Facebook page, via email, and on local news. At this point, we do not foresee a need to cancel any activities scheduled for the rest of this week. Kingdom Kids Preschool will be closed if Duval County Public Schools are closed.

In the meantime, now is a good time to review your storm preparation plan. The City of Jacksonville has a really helpful guide.

All God’s love,

Kevin
